Jaylo has reduced its emissions by 13.6% over the last two years
In a world increasingly aware of environmental challenges, our company took a step forward in 2021 by declaring its carbon footprint of scope 1+2 (both direct and indirect emissions), as reported by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. This important milestone marked the beginning of a firm commitment to reducing its environmental impact.
By the end of 2023 Jaylo has achieved a remarkable 13.6% reduction in its carbon footprint compared to the baseline year. If we already reduced more than 256 tn of CO2 in 2022, last year we multiplied that figure and were able to stop emitting 1,693 tn less than in 2021.
To better understand these figures, equating it to the CO2 absorption capacity of trees, the reduction achieved this year by Jaylo is the equivalent of planting 76,975 mature pine trees.
This achievement demonstrates the effectiveness of the targets set out in our company's sustainability and improvement plan, as we continue to reduce our emissions rate on a daily basis, and also highlights Jaylo's ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental impact.
Actions that are already part of our day-to-day life
During this period, Jaylo has set out to reduce its carbon footprint and is successfully achieving this goal. This achievement has been made possible by a number of measures:
- Equipment renewal: we have prioritised the acquisition of equipment with less polluting engines (Euro VI vehicles), thus contributing to the reduction of emissions.
- Optimisation of the tare weight: efforts have been made to optimise the tare weight of the equipment, which translates into lower fuel consumption and, therefore, reduced emissions.
- Installation of self-inflating tyre systems: The implementation of self-inflating tyre systems has proven to be an effective measure to reduce rolling resistance and therefore carbon emissions per kilometre driven.
- Continuous training: Continuous and individualised training has been offered to all drivers, with the aim of encouraging more sustainable driving practices.
- Incentives for sustainable drivers: we encourage and incentivise those drivers who adopt greener and more efficient driving practices.
- Use of renewable energy: we have prioritised the consumption of electricity from renewable sources, as well as investing in self-consumption and surplus generation systems.
- Sustainable buildings and facilities: we have designed and constructed our buildings and facilities with sustainability criteria in mind, thus contributing to the reduction of our carbon footprint.
In short, Jaylo is actively committed to reducing our carbon footprint and demonstrates the ability to meet and exceed its sustainability targets. Through these measures and a proactive approach, we at Jaylo continue our daily journey towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
